However, it was his discovery of fireworks videos from a competition in France in 2006 that would change his focus forever. The mesmerizing display of pyrotechnics sparked an idea in his mind - what if he could create software to simulate fireworks shows? Trötzmüller spent more than a decade crafting FWSim, pouring over ideas and figuring out what people would want from such a program. He presented some of his concepts online, seeking feedback and input from real-life fireworks designers and enthusiasts. Four years later, in 2010, the first "official" version of FWSim was released. Initially, Trötzmüller started writing FWSim from scratch, as he couldn't find any software at the time that allowed users to develop their own fireworks shows. His passion for computer programming and free time enabled him to tackle this massive project. ![]() ![]() ![]() When asked about his inspiration, Trötzmüller reflected on the creativity of real-life fireworks designers who turn their craft into an art form. "There are some people out there who can really make fireworks into an art with just amazing designs that just capture the mood of music," he said in an interview. FWSim has come a long way since its humble beginnings, and Trötzmüller's dedication to his craft is a testament to the power of passion and innovation.
